Another month, another mixtape – it’s as simple as that. Even though, this mixtape actually contains two months of music, it’s a rather short, but a very loved one.
This month’s mixtape has a lot of Kpop on it and I’m not even sorry. I accepted that I won’t come out of that hole anytime soon, so might as well make the most out of it.
There are two comebacks I want to mention: the first one is KARD. I absolutely love them. There a mixed group with two boys and two girls (and they’re all freaking beautiful – what a surprise) and their music is more EDM-oriented. Normally not my cup of tea, but I absolutely love their comeback single “You In Me“.
The second comeback is Red Velvet. I’m not really big on girl groups, but they’re growing on me and Red Velvet is one of my favourites. I really liked their last comeback single “Red Flavor“, but it didn’t come close to “Peek-A-Boo” at all. I just love the song, the music video and the choreography. Definitely one of my most listened songs last month.
And now it’s time to talk about BTS. First, the “Mic Drop” Remix. I feel like I’m running out of words to describe how amazing those songs are. Well, anyway: it’s absolutly amazing – the song itself, the video and (again) the choreography. I have to say that I didn’t realise most of the song is in English when I first listened to it and the chorus still feels kinda off, but I love it nonetheless.
Second, a song I did not see coming at all: RM released a remix with Fall Out Boy. Of all the western artists BTS could collaborate with, Fall Out Boy was definitely not on my list. It’s a bit of a strange combination, but I was very pleased with the outcome and listened quite a lot to it.
My newest discovery in the last month was Dermot Kennedy. He hasn’t released many songs, but the few he has are just beautiful. My favourites are “Glory” (I really want to take some pictures inspired by the lyrics) and “All my Friends“.
To end this one a high and not on a kinda sad or korean one, another absolute favourite from the last month: “Stay Ignorant” by Don Broco.
What songs did you love last month? Was it all about Christmas or some other ones as well? Let me know in the comments.
Love, Jacky N.
